Finally, manipulate the geometry as necessary to achieve the desired results. There are nine commands in three sets of three with one set at a time being available depending on what entity or entities you have selected. First draw a construction line in the sketch group, select the construction line and right click, choose set as a mirror line. The geometry will be mirrored along the chosen axis. In a nutshell, the Flip Along commands, which you access via the Context menu, are used to create mirror images of geometry, components, and groups. A sub-menu will appear, from which you can select the axis along which you want to flip the object. Selected objects can also be mirrored about axes of symmetry. With the object selected, right-click on it, then select Flip Along from the options. Sometimes it is a setting which is the opposite of Blurry. Selected vectors/bitmaps/component grayscale previews can be mirrored to a new orientation.
Sketchup mirror an object how to#
In this video we'll talk about how to use TIG mirror to mirror both. Blurry - A Blurry Reflection means that tiny random bumps on the surface of the material cause the reflection to be blurry. In today's video, we check out TIG Mirror - a SketchUp Extension designed to add mirroring functionality for SketchUp.Polished - A Polished Reflection is an undisturbed reflection, like a mirror or chrome.Reflection on a shiny surface like wood or tile can add to the photorealistic effects of a 3D rendering. Reflection is accomplished in a ray trace renderer by following a ray from the eye to the mirror and then calculating where it bounces from, and continuing the process until no surface is found, or a non-reflective surface is found. It is a critical tool, and not having it is a real time waster.

I find this to be one of the most irritating omissions in Sketchup.

Reflection is a property you add to a material to emulate reflective objects like mirrors and shiny surfaces. You can also add other special features - such as Sharpness/(blurriness), glossiness or metallic reflection. You can start with a default Reflective Material and use a slider bar to change the amount of reflection. Make any SketchUp material reflective with a simple right click edit.
